The Crow

[ The Crow ]

( The Crow, starring Brandon Lee, would have to be one of my all-time favourite movies. Brandon was killed during it's filming... an unfortunate real-life tragedy. )

One year after Eric Draven and his fiance, Shelly Webster, are killed in their home, Eric is brought back to the land of the living by a crow to exact revenge on their killers. His "mission" is to repay them for their evil deeds - pure revenge - killing without remorse.

He does, however, help the mother of a street kid, a close friend of Shelly's, and for this act (not part of his "mission") he loses some of his "invincibility": there is a scene cut out of the movie where he is slashed in the stomach when "Fun Boy" attacks him with a razor - which explains why you see Eric "bandaged" later in the film.

The crow is the source of Eric's power - it brought him back to life, and he is ab;e to see through the crows eyes. Once the bad guys figure this out, they lure him into a church by kidnapping the young girl. After the crow is injured Eric becomes somewhat mortal - and the bad guy leader notes that "For a ghost you bleed just fine."

Anyhow, there is a lot of action, great visuals, and an awesome soundtrack. If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you do - especially if you are in any way gothically inclined.

[ Skull ]

"Who gets married on Halloween anyway?"

"Apparently nobody..."

( I saw "The Crow - City Of Angels" recently (13 July, '97), but I was not so taken with this movie. )

Sarah, the girl from The Crow, is all grown up now, and she helps another raised from the dead by a crow. This time it is a man who was killed with his son and drowned, for being "in the wrong place at the wrone time" - it was "nothing personal". Talk about cliches... worse than me! Anyhow, I don't feel like explaining the story, 'coz it is not so good. (Yeah, that's it... it's not because I am useless and lazy...)

Maybe it is just me, but the soudtrack is also not as good as for the original... but then again, it is a pretty tall order to better The Crow.
